President Donald J. Trump announced the imposition of tariffs on imported steel and tariffs on the basis of national security concerns. Imported metals from Canada and Mexico will be spared the new tariffs for now. However, this may only be a temporary reprieve. President Trump made it clear that Canada and Mexico would face tariffs on imported metals if the North American Free Trade Agreement is not re-negotiated to the satisfaction of the US administration.
