US Considers Tariffs on North American Cars Due to National Security Fears

According to the Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump recently threatened to impose tariffs on Canadian manufactured vehicles under the guise of a national security threat. US automakers do not support the Section 232 tariffs because automakers like GM, Ford and Chrysler manufacturer automobiles on both sides of the border and leverage a cross-border supply-chain thanks to NAFTA.
